On Monday night May 12, 2014 Steve’s assistant Tym was in a major auto accident and had a severe spinal cord injury which paralyzed him from the neck down
This May we were able to go and visit Tym at his home in Ben Lomond. It was so great to see him and hear about his plans and goals. It is amazing how far he has come in the past year. His attitude is truly inspiring. He chooses to look at all of the positive things in his life.
Our current goal is to raise an additional $2,000 towards a custom built manual wheel chair with a power pack/braking system to give Tym more mobility and build strength. Medi-cal WILL NOT pay for this chair. His biggest need at this time is to purchase the power assist motors to go with it. Tym is using the funds we raised through GoFundMe to go towards the purchase of the custom built manual wheelchair. The newly raised funds will go toward the power assist motors. This will all help him become more and more independent.
The total funds Tym received from the car insurance was $2,500! A drop in the bucket considering he has had and will have a lifetime of medical expenses.
Tym is on a waiting list for a place of his own which is very exciting. He wants to study design so that he can create custom apparel that will help others with physical challenges be more independent in their daily activities. We are so proud of him!
